Huguenot History Presented at Lowcountry Senior Center
Today in Charleston the Society was a guest of the Lowcountry Senior Center and provided a talk on South Carolina’s Huguenot Heritage.
The Society enjoyed visiting with members and guests at the Lowcountry Senior Center on James Island today for a one-hour program on South Carolina’s Huguenot Heritage. The talk began with the Huguenots fleeing France and moved through their arrival to Carolina and their early impressions and experiences once in the colony. It was a pleasure to see a few members - descendants of Poyas, Marion, and Bonneau to name a few. And, to meet guests who were less familiar with the Huguenot story and interested to know more.
Providing talks is one way we continue to deliver on our mission to preserve and share the history of the Huguenots. The Society would like to thank Kimberly P. Prothro, Program Manager, for the kind invitation to speak today.
